Warm autumn weather to continue in Finland with clear skies before rain arrives
A warm autumn weather in Finland is set to continue for a short while longer. Thursday promises to be largely clear and sunny. However, starting Friday, cloud cover will increase, particularly in the southern and central regions of the country, according to meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander.
Temperatures will peak at around 12 to 13 degrees Celsius today, while in Lapland, they will hover around five degrees, dropping to a couple of degrees in the far north.
Tonight, fog is expected to form in many areas, and Friday afternoon may see foggy conditions extending from North Karelia to Southern and Eastern Lapland. A weather front will move over Lapland tonight bringing with it rainfall. Before the rain arrives, temperatures may dip below freezing in eastern Lapland, and possibly in Kainuu as well, Lohtander predicts.
Friday will be predominantly cloudy, though the sun might make an appearance in the west. In the south, temperatures will be around ten degrees, with slightly cooler conditions in the north.
The weekend is expected to remain warm, but temperatures will cool down afterwards, according to Lohtander. “It has been warmer than usual for this time of year, but the start of next week will see temperatures drop by about five degrees, closer to the seasonal average,” he added.
