Liikenneturva advocates for minimum age of 15 for electric scooter users in Finland

Liikenneturva, Finland’s road safety organization, is advocating for a minimum age of 15 for operators of electric scooters and other lightweight electric vehicles. Currently, Finland has no age restrictions for electric scooter users, while many countries set age limits between 12 and 16.

The European Traffic Safety Council (ETSC) recommends that electric scooter riders be at least 16 years old, or that the age restriction align with the higher national age requirement for moped users.

This proposed age limit for electric scooter drivers is part of a government draft bill aimed at regulating micro-mobility, which is currently open for public consultation.
