Prosecutors are requesting a suspended prison sentence for a former director of a service home in Savitaipale. The individual, who managed the Savitaipale Senior Support Association from 2016 to 2019, oversaw the operation of Suvanto Center, which provided housing services for the elderly and managed a swimming facility.

In the indictment, prosecutors allege that the director had discrepancies in monitoring work hours for project work. It is also claimed that the director presented a falsified meeting minute to the association’s office secretary, indicating that the organization had decided to grant him a nearly 800-euro salary increase. As a result, the director received excessive pay for about six months.

The director’s employment was terminated in May 2019. According to the indictment, he allegedly took his company laptop and only returned it after several requests. Furthermore, he reportedly deleted files and took documents and USB sticks with him. The association claims that reissuing the documents incurred costs of up to 60,000 euros.

Additionally, the indictment states that the director attempted to cancel grants awarded to the association, which could have resulted in significant financial damage. Prosecutors are seeking a suspended sentence for offenses related to breach of trust, fraud, forgery, attempted aggravated fraud, theft, aggravated damage, and aggravated data-related damage.

The charges were read in the South Savo District Court this past Thursday, with proceedings set to continue next week. In a written response, the former director has denied all allegations. Another criminal case is pending in South Savo District Court against the same individual for offenses unrelated to Suvanto.
