Martha Lilja Olsen appointed as new director of Equality Office in Iceland

Martha Lilja Olsen has been appointed as the new director of the Equality Office in Iceland, as announced on the website of the Icelandic government. She was selected from six candidates who applied for the position.

Since 2015, Olsen has served as the office manager at the Rector’s Office of the University of Akureyri. Before that, she held several roles including department head at the Westfjords Revenue Office from 1999 to 2005, director of education at the Westfjords University Center from 2006 to 2011, and translator for the Translation Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2011 and 2015.

Olsen holds a BA in history with Icelandic as a minor, an MA in practical sciences, a diploma, and a Master’s in Public Administration.
