Tenants share poor living conditions and neglect by Hämeenlinnan Asunnot Oy management
Three people have shared their unfortunate experiences of living in properties managed by Hämeenlinnan Asunnot Oy. They reported problems such as issues with indoor air quality, mold spots on walls, and delayed repairs. They also experienced leaks from the roofs. All of the individuals interviewed said they felt their complaints to customer service were not taken seriously.
Kim Lindroos and his family lived in a house managed by Hämeenlinnan Asunnot on Parolantie for over five years. Lindroos described the experience as terrible due to mold in the apartment, high prices, and a lack of response from customer service despite making complaints. Lindroos had to replace most of his furniture and claimed financial losses of thousands of euros.
The CEO of Hämeenlinnan Asunnot, Tuukka Tuomala, has commented on the situation. He argues that complaints often arise due to living habits, such as general cleanliness, pets, and potential blockages in ventilation ducts. He also mentioned that the company works to respond to all customer inquiries professionally. However, he admitted that not all issues can be resolved in one visit or phone call and that not all customers can be pleased.
Another resident, Jasmin Kinnunen, moved into a Hämeenlinnan Asunnot property in Tuulos on Heiskalantie in August 2020. She noticed symptoms in her dogs before experiencing symptoms herself. After learning from neighbors about an un-repaired water damage incident, she found the structures under the sink had rotted. According to Kinnunen, Hämeenlinnan Asunnot Oy quickly fixed the kitchen issues, but she soon discovered a new mold concentration in the bathroom. Kinnunen said that despite her health complications as a result of the mold, she found it difficult to get help from customer service.
Another former resident, Tiiu Palo, lived in a Hämeenlinnan Asunnot property on Parolantie for two years. She reported that despite her apartment being recently renovated and in good condition, issues persisted in the building, most notably an always-open front door that allowed anyone to enter. Palo described contacting Hämeenlinnan Asunnot customer service multiple times via email, with little success. Palo’s boyfriend, who still lives in the building, has also experienced mold in his apartment. Palo emphasized that many of the company’s tenants are unemployed, have bad credit, or struggle with mental health or substance abuse issues, and feels the company simply wants to extract money from them.
