Fire extinguished at two-family house undergoing renovations in Stjørdal, Norway
The fire in Stjørdal has been extinguished, but some parts of the building remain affected. The fire, which originated in a two-family house undergoing renovations, was reported at 4:46 AM. Upon arrival at 5 AM, firefighters observed open flames in the structure, which is situated in a residential area at Stokkberga. There were no occupants in the building at the time of the fire.
Fire Chief Tore Laugtug indicated that the blaze started in a central section of the ground floor and spread to a neighboring unit due to roof connections. Thick smoke has prompted nearby residents to keep their windows closed. Fortunately, light winds in the area have helped prevent the fire from spreading further to adjacent homes.
Firefighters initially tackled the blaze from the outside before deploying smoke divers into the building. As of 8 AM, operations included both external extinguishing and the careful demolition of walls and ceilings to locate any hidden flames. Frank Hansen, an operations manager at the local fire command center, reported that visible flames have been quelled and that they have the situation under control, with both Stjørdal and Malvik fire services involved in the response effort. Firefighters continue to work on extinguishing any remaining hotspots within the structure.
