Restaurateur Ibrahim Tas in Porsgrunn is set to open a new bar named Stordalen Pub and Cocktail Bar. However, he faces legal threats from Petter Stordalen, a well-known hotelier, who demands the removal of the name by October 14, citing concerns that it implies his endorsement or involvement with the establishment.

Tas, who operates Oscars Brasserie, views the bar’s name as a playful jab at Simon Stordalen, Petter Stordalen’s nephew, with whom he has had several disputes, particularly over rental agreements and shared costs. Despite legal pressures, Tas has firmly stated that he will not back down and intends to launch the bar next month. He has expressed his willingness to go to court if necessary, emphasizing that traditional representations, like strawberries in the logo, should not be misinterpreted as endorsements.

The situation has escalated to Petter Stordalen’s main office for his hotel chain, Strawberry, where he has remained tight-lipped regarding the matter. His legal representative indicated that unauthorized use of his name and brand typically warrants a formal request for permission, which was allegedly not sought in this case.

Interestingly, Tas has also expressed a willingness to serve Stordalen’s beers and ciders in his new establishment, highlighting a desire for coexistence despite the ongoing dispute. The new bar is expected to add a vibrant touch to Porsgrunn’s nightlife, contributing to the city’s cultural landscape.
