The Rovaniemi Court of Appeal has sentenced a Kainuu entrepreneur to 60 days of conditional imprisonment for two counts of sexual exploitation. Last year, three women filed charges against him for sexual exploitation, and one of them also accused him of workplace discrimination and occupational safety violations. In an earlier ruling, the Kainuu District Court dismissed all charges but mandated the entrepreneur to pay the legal fees of the third woman and provide her with compensation, as the court recognized that he had acted partially as alleged in the accusations.
In the recent appeal, the court upheld the claims of the two other women, leading to the conviction. The entrepreneur has been sentenced to 60 days of conditional imprisonment and is required to pay each of the two women €1,500 in compensation for suffering, along with their legal costs. Additionally, the state has been exempted from covering the entrepreneur’s legal expenses, amounting to €4,600.
