Man sentenced to eight months probation for child sexual abuse in Satakunta District Court

A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to eight months of probation by the Satakunta District Court for two counts of child sexual abuse and a related alcohol offense. According to the court’s public statement, the defendant provided strong alcohol to his victims, aged 14 and 15 at the time, and subsequently kissed them on various parts of their bodies while they were intoxicated. These offenses occurred in October 2021.

The court justified the eight-month probation sentence as sufficient punishment, noting that the actions were not deemed particularly reprehensible. The man also had no prior criminal record. In addition to the probation, he has been ordered to pay one of the victims €2,000 in compensation, while the other victim did not seek damages.

The sentencing is not yet final, as the ruling can be appealed to a higher court.
