Police in Eastern Finland have been investigating a series of serious drug offenses since spring. The investigation revealed that a 23-year-old man from Joensuu had acquired substantial quantities of narcotics to distribute in the Joensuu area from Southern Finland. According to the police, the man is alleged to have obtained and distributed 1.5 kilograms of amphetamine, approximately three kilograms of ecstasy, around 30 grams of cocaine, and about 1,000 ecstasy pills. During the course of the investigation, around 600 grams of amphetamine were also seized.
The case is set to move towards prosecution. The primary suspect’s accomplice is believed to be another 23-year-old man from Joensuu. This accomplice is suspected of having retrieved amphetamines, marijuana, ecstasy, and cocaine from Southern Finland on two occasions on behalf of the primary suspect. Additionally, a 22-year-old man from Joensuu is suspected of aiding and abetting serious drug offenses. He is alleged to have acted as a driver for the primary suspect during one of these drug retrieval missions. The 22-year-old is also facing charges in a separate drug case involving approximately 200 grams of marijuana in his possession.
The main suspect was arrested in connection with these offenses in June and has been in custody ever since. The investigation is now transitioning to prosecution, with charges expected to be filed by November 8.
