Construction of second multi-role corvette begins ahead of schedule at Rauma shipyard in Finland

Construction of the second multi-role corvette has commenced at the Rauma shipyard, starting several weeks ahead of schedule. Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) and its subsidiary RMC Defence are working on a total of four multi-role corvettes for the Finnish Defence Forces as part of the Laivue 2020 program.

These corvettes are designed to effectively perform naval operations throughout the year. They are being built in a specially constructed, secure facility that ensures the necessary safety and quality standards. The first of the corvettes is currently progressing through the hull construction phase and is beginning to take on the shape of a vessel.

The Laivue 2020 program aims for completion by 2029, and its direct employment impact in Finland is projected to exceed 3,600 person-years.
