Minister Guðbrandsson acknowledges concerning labor leasing and human trafficking in Iceland

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Market, Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, acknowledged in Alþingi that the situation regarding labor leasing and human trafficking in Iceland is concerning. During a parliamentary session, a member of the Pirate Party expressed astonishment that these issues are not a priority for the government.

Recent reports highlighted the extent of human trafficking and exploitation within the Icelandic labor market, revealing that dozens, if not hundreds, of foreign workers are lured to the country and subsequently denied their wages. Many of these workers live in poor conditions while paying exorbitant rents.
