The pharmaceutical company Bayer has commenced negotiations regarding potential layoffs in Turku, affecting 400 employees and staff members. Bayer estimates that these discussions may result in a maximum of 38 positions being terminated, predominantly affecting clerical and higher-level staff. The company indicates that it is seeking to streamline its organizational structure by reducing management levels.
Bayer aims to consider all reasonable alternatives during the change negotiations to minimize job losses as much as possible. According to Bayer’s statement, the basis for the negotiations is the need for the international Bayer Group to enhance operational efficiency.
