Olkiluoto 3 control rod incident reduces output in Finland

Olkiluoto 3 was operating normally when one of the reactor’s control rods unexpectedly fell into the reactor. As a result of the incident, the plant’s output automatically decreased to approximately 1,220 megawatts. To investigate the cause of the disruption and to repair the issue, the facility has reduced its electricity generation to about 750 megawatts. Authorities have confirmed that the incident poses no threat to nuclear safety.
