The Education Board received one application for an intake class this school year, which did not meet the requirement of at least seven students. Consequently, there are three intake classes this year, according to Skúlablaðið.
The intake classes are located at the Runavík Municipal School, Eysturskúlin, and a new class that is a collaboration between Fuglafjarðar School and the school in Eysturkommuna.
Last school year, there were 224 students of foreign origin enrolled in the Faroese primary school system, as reported by Skúlablaðið.
Out of these, 113 students came from countries outside Europe, compared to just 45 a decade ago. Students of foreign origin are defined as those who are not from the Nordic countries.
For the past two school years, the Tórshavn Evening School has had an intake class with students from the municipal primary schools. This class will not continue.
Currently, there is no concrete plan to establish another intake class in the municipality in the near future, according to Skúlablaðið.
