During October, visitors to downtown Akureyri are encouraged to stop by an art studio on Hafnarstræti to witness a unique exhibition featuring charmingly crocheted hats. These colorful headpieces, inspired by pop culture phenomena like Star Wars, aim to uplift spirits during the challenging journey of cancer treatment.

Brynja Harðardóttir Tveiten, who completed her treatment for breast cancer at the end of 2021, lost her hair during chemotherapy. In a touching act of support, her husband took it upon himself to crochet various whimsical headwear for Brynja, bringing a sense of joy to her situation. According to Brynja, these hats not only received positive reactions wherever she went but also served as a source of courage during trying times.

The exhibit is part of activities organized for Pink October, an awareness campaign that highlights breast cancer, fostering solidarity and support for those affected. By showcasing these artistic creations, Brynja and her husband contribute to a larger conversation about resilience and the power of creativity in moments of adversity.
