The Satakunta District Court has sentenced a 29-year-old man to a prison term of one year and seven months for aggravated sexual abuse of a child. He is also required to pay €15,000 in damages to the victim, who was between 14 and 15 years old at the time of the incidents. The events took place during the summer of 2020 when the perpetrator was 26.

According to the court’s public statement, the man, who is over ten years older than the victim, engaged in sexual intercourse with her multiple times. These encounters were unprotected, and the victim was intoxicated at least once during the incidents. Additionally, the man sent the girl sexually explicit messages.

The court classified the actions as aggravated due to the sexual intercourse with an individual under the age of 16. The determination of the severity of the crime was based on various factors, including the victim’s age, the age difference between the parties, the repeated nature of the acts, and the circumstances of the victim, as stated in the court’s release.

The sentence is not yet final, as the defendant has the option to appeal to the Court of Appeal.
