Iceland’s farmed fish export value reaches 31 billion ISK in 2023
In the first eight months of this year, the export value of farmed fish from Iceland reached 31 billion Icelandic krónur (ISK). This figure represents a significant increase compared to just over 5 billion ISK in 2014. The growth is primarily attributed to salmon farming, which has seen substantial demand and higher market values.
Additionally, the export value of Senegalese fish, a key product, has also hit a record high this year, totaling 1.2 billion ISK during the same period. This marks a threefold increase compared to the previous year. Overall, the surge in export values highlights the growing importance of aquaculture within Iceland’s seafood industry.
