Norsk e-Fuel plans production facility in Rauma, Finland for synthetic aviation fuel

Norwegian company Norsk e-Fuel, which specializes in electric fuel, is planning to establish a production facility in Rauma, Finland. This initiative is being developed in collaboration with Fortum and the Port of Rauma. The company has secured exclusive rights to a 14-hectare land area in Rauma. This project marks Norsk e-Fuel’s first venture outside of Norway.

The proposed facility is expected to have a production capacity of up to 100 million liters per year. It will primarily produce fossil-free synthetic aviation fuel (e-SAF) aimed at the airline industry. The project could position Rauma as a key player in increasing the supply of e-SAF in Europe. EU regulations require fuel suppliers to gradually increase the proportion of e-SAF blended into conventional aviation fuel at EU airports.

Lars Bjørn Larsen, the Chief Commercial Officer of Norsk e-Fuel, highlighted the advantages of the location: “A direct sea link and railway connection, a strong industrial ecosystem with other operators, solid local partnerships, and readily available electricity make this an opportunity we want to seize.”
