Man connected to motorcycle community attended parties hosted by Jimmie Åkesson in Sweden

On Monday, it was revealed that a man connected to the criminal motorcycle community had attended several private parties hosted by Jimmie Åkesson, the leader of the Sweden Democrats (SD). Åkesson stated that he only has a superficial acquaintance with the individual and can recall just one conversation. “I remember only one conversation with this person, other than our greetings. We talked about trucks or possibly buses,” Åkesson said during an interview on Sveriges Radio’s P1 Morgon.

Mattias Karlsson, the group leader of the Sweden Democrats, who previously had a relationship with the motorcycle member’s current partner, along with SD member Richard Jomshof, both acknowledged that they were aware of the man’s background during a wedding but had not communicated this information to Åkesson.

When asked whether he viewed the lack of communication as a failure, Åkesson responded, “In hindsight, it is certainly a failure, but I believe there are reasonable explanations for why the information did not disseminate further.”
