Police investigate fatal collision in Pälkäne, Finland

The police continue to conduct interrogations related to a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday evening in Pälkäne. Investigating officer Tuomas Luhtaniemi from the Central Finland Police Department stated that specific details of the investigation cannot be disclosed as a key interrogation has yet to be completed. “Since not all parties involved have been heard, I can only comment that the road section was straight,” Luhtaniemi said.
He noted that parties involved in the incident were interrogated throughout Monday morning, with interrogations set to continue until Tuesday. A technical investigation is also ongoing, though Luhtaniemi did not specify who has already been interrogated or who is to be questioned.
A personal vehicle collided with a full trailer combination around 6 PM on Sunday evening on Highway 12 in Pälkäne, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The police have not revealed the ages or genders of the deceased. According to reports, the car crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the front of the truck. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch, with the car igniting following the collision.
The driver and passenger of the car died at the scene, whereas the truck driver did not sustain serious injuries. The highway remained closed near the accident site, close to the center of Pälkäne, until approximately 4:30 AM.
