Fortum extends maintenance at Loviisa nuclear power plant in Finland

Fortum has announced an extension of the annual maintenance at the Loviisa nuclear power plant’s Unit 1. In a recent statement, the company reported that a technical issue was detected in one of the control rods during tests conducted as part of the plant’s startup procedures. The maintenance work is now expected to conclude on October 12. This completion date has already been postponed from the initial plan, which had set the end date for September 30. It’s important to note that the annual maintenance work is focused solely on Unit 1, while Unit 2 has been operating normally.
