Svandís nominated as sole candidate for Left-Green Movement leadership in Iceland

Svandís Svavarsdóttir will be the sole candidate for the leadership of the Left-Green Movement in Iceland, following the closure of the nomination period this evening. The party’s national conference commenced this afternoon and will continue until Sunday.

Tomorrow, the election for the party leader will take place, with Svandís as the only nominee, alongside votes for the vice-chairmanship. The candidates for the vice-chair position include Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, the current acting chairman, and Jódís Skúladóttir, a member of parliament.
