Arion Bank reduces interest rates on unsecured loans following central bank rate decrease in Iceland
Arion Bank has announced a reduction in interest rates on unsecured loans following a decrease in the central bank rate by the Central Bank of Iceland. While interest rates on inflation-indexed loans will remain unchanged, variable rates have dropped by 0.25 percentage points to 10.64%, and fixed rates have decreased by 0.6 percentage points, now standing at 8.8%. Additionally, interest rates on car loans and overdrafts will also see a reduction of 0.25 percentage points.
This announcement comes after the bank raised interest rates on inflation-indexed loans by 0.50 and 0.60 percentage points last month. The new rates will take effect on October 8, 2024.
