Tickets for new music competition sell out quickly ahead of event at Tampere Arena in Finland
Tickets for the evening event of the New Music Competition (UMK) became available today at 9 AM and were quickly sold out as demand surged. The event, regarded as Finland’s largest music show, will take place at the Tampere Arena and will feature seven competition entries alongside performances from several top Finnish artists.
“The atmosphere in Tampere Arena last year was palpable, as reflected in the audience’s reactions,” said UMK’s chief producer, Anssi Autio.
In the afternoon dress rehearsals, a similar show to the evening’s planned performance will take place. Based on these rehearsals, an international jury will award points to the competitors. Notably, 25% of the votes will be allocated according to the dress rehearsal performance. The only difference is that the final scoring and announcement of the winner will be part of the rehearsals.
Tickets for the dress rehearsal will go on sale Thursday at noon. The lineup for the UMK25 competition has yet to be announced.
Last year, UMK shattered previous records, with nearly 20,000 attendees at the Tampere Arena. Additionally, 1.9 million Finns followed the competition on television, and nearly one million international viewers tuned in via Yle Areena.
A list of artists speculated to participate in this spring’s New Music Competition is circulating on social media and Eurovision fan forums, alleging to have leaked from the UMK team. The winner of the competition will represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland from May 13 to May 17, 2025.
