Elenia warns of potential installer fraud following theft of vans in Hämeenlinna

The electricity network company Elenia has issued a warning about possible installer fraud. On Tuesday, Elenia was informed that two Ford Transit vans belonging to its partner Elvera were stolen from a warehouse in Hämeenlinna. The license plate numbers of the vehicles are RUR-652 and RUT-728. In addition to the vehicles, tools and electricity meters stored in them were also taken.

Elenia suspects that the thieves may attempt to pose as electricians. Elvera is currently in the process of installing smart electricity meters for Elenia’s electrical measurement upgrade project in Hämeenlinna and the Kanta-Häme region. Both Elenia and Elvera emphasize that a legitimate installer can be recognized by a plastic ID card bearing the Elenia partner logo. Elvera’s installers are scheduled to install the new electricity meters at agreed-upon times.

A police report has already been filed regarding the theft with the Hämeenlinna police. Elenia and Elvera urge anyone with information related to the theft or potential installer fraud to report their observations to the police.
