Grindavík council implements safety measures after January accident

Grindavík’s local council is taking significant steps to enhance safety in the wake of a fatal accident that occurred in January. Árni Þór Sigurðsson, head of the Grindavík Council, emphasized the importance of addressing recommendations from a labor inspection report following the incident.

Sigurðsson clarified that the council was not established at the time of the accident, which was noted in the labor inspection report. The report indicated that a written risk assessment was absent during ongoing work for filling cracks, highlighting significant deficiencies in project organization.
