Helgi I. Jónsson appointed acting Ombudsman of Althingi, Iceland

Helgi I. Jónsson, a former Supreme Court judge, has been appointed as the acting Ombudsman of the Althingi, Iceland’s parliament. The appointment, made by the President of the Althingi, comes as Kristín Benediktsdóttir, the newly elected Ombudsman, is finishing her tasks at the University of Iceland’s law department.

The temporary assignment is effective from October 1st to November 1st, or until Kristín concludes her duties earlier.
