The Tampere Arena is set to take over the space previously occupied by a closed casino. Veikkaus, the state-owned gambling company, and the arena management have reached an agreement to terminate their lease agreement ahead of schedule. The initial lease was for five years.

The arena is expected to utilize the space starting in early 2024. While specific plans for the space have not been disclosed, Marko Hurme, the CEO of Nokia Arena, emphasized that additional space is necessary. He noted, “During some events that can last for weeks, we need ample extra space. This demand is always present. Now, we aim to ease the pressure on organizers and be more accessible to our event customers.”

The Tampere casino was closed in December 2023, and since then, the venue has remained vacant. Hurme also mentioned that part of the roughly 1,000 square meters may be leased out to external parties. More detailed information regarding the plans is expected to be released later this year.
