Police respond to nightlife disturbances and driving offenses in Reykjavik area

Last night was busy for the police in the Reykjavik metropolitan area. Authorities received reports of a brawl outside a nightclub in downtown Reykjavik. During this incident, a person wielding an extendable baton was apprehended and taken to the police station, but was later released following an interview.

Additionally, the police intervened with several drivers throughout the capital region, many of whom tested positive for drug or alcohol influence while driving.

There were also two reports concerning individuals who were found sleeping off their intoxication in public spaces in downtown Reykjavik and in the Hlíðar area. Other reports included incidents of broken windows in downtown Hafnarfjörður, a vehicle off the road in Garðabær, and the use of fireworks in Kópavogur.
