The verdict from the Faroe Islands Court, concerning a 21-year-old man convicted of multiple charges including rape, has been upheld. The ruling will not be appealed to the High Court.
The man has received a five-year prison sentence. In addition to the prison term, he must compensate the victims he was found guilty of assaulting, with total damages amounting to 190,000 Danish kroner.
The prosecution had sought a sentence between five and fifteen years of unconditional imprisonment. However, the defense argued that a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence would be more appropriate, suggesting that part of it should be conditional.
Regarding the charges related to sexual offenses and drug use, the defense maintained that a fine would be a more suitable punishment.
