Hotel Punkaharju in Finland reportedly up for sale by owner Artur Karaman
The Hotel Punkaharju may be up for sale again, according to reports from Ilta-Sanomat on Thursday evening. The owner, Artur Karaman, is reportedly planning to put the hotel and the adjoining Keisarinna villa on the market in the near future. Karaman purchased the hotel in January. Kare Tikka, the hotel’s operator, confirmed to Yle that Karaman has expressed his willingness to sell.
“I’m not aware of the timeline. Karaman didn’t specify how or when he intends to put it on the market,” Tikka stated. Following the news from Ilta-Sanomat, Tikka mentioned that his phone has been ringing, indicating interest from potential buyers. However, he added, “I can’t comment on any other prospective buyers.”
Tikka suggests that Karaman’s ownership has not been beneficial for the hotel’s image. Karaman is a businessman of Estonian-Russian descent, and there have been some ambiguities in his previous business dealings in Finland.
“If we could find a Finnish owner, it might be positive for the hotel’s operations,” Tikka speculated.
