Iceland’s Minister of Social Affairs emphasizes need for action plan against human trafficking

The Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, emphasized the need for a clear strategy and action plan to address human trafficking in the country. In a recent discussion, he highlighted the collaboration between government agencies, public institutions, and the labor market, which has proven crucial in tackling trafficking cases, particularly referencing the case against Quang Lé.

Guðbrandsson expressed confidence in the ability to confront this issue effectively, asserting, “We cannot let this pass by,” and vowed to actively contribute alongside labor market stakeholders and fellow ministers to address the problem vigorously.

Maj-Britt Hjördís Briem, a lawyer specializing in labor market affairs, pointed out the necessity for the government to clarify responsibilities among all parties involved in this collaboration, as well as to establish clear procedures and action plans.
