Investigation concludes in Iceland involving six journalists and fishing company executive Páll Steingrímsson

The police in the East of Iceland have concluded their investigation into alleged drugging, cellphone data copying, and the distribution of sexual content involving six journalists, who held the status of suspects. Páll Steingrímsson, captain of the fishing company Samherji, insists that the matter is far from over, despite the police dropping the case.

The investigation, which lasted approximately three years, was deemed unlikely to result in convictions, according to a detailed announcement from the police. Páll accused the journalists of deception and accused them of delaying the investigation in a Facebook post shared last night. He expressed dissatisfaction with the justice he believes he deserves and stated that the case is not finished.

Páll’s lawyer mentioned there hasn’t been a decision regarding the next steps, but it’s probable that the decision to end the investigation will be appealed to the state prosecutor. In his post, Páll described the process as an endless cycle of delays and systematic deception that has left him and his family suffering as a result of circumstances he would not wish on his worst enemies. “We did not receive the justice we believed we were owed. But the last word has not been said in this matter,” he emphasized.
