Three applications have been submitted for the position of Director of the National Heritage Agency, which was advertised for applications in August. The candidates are Agnes Stefánsdóttir, division manager; Grégory Cattaneo, a historian, teacher, and author; and Rúnar Leifsson, the acting director of the agency.

According to a statement from the government, a three-member selection committee has been appointed by the minister to assess the qualifications of the applicants and provide a report to the minister. Kristin Huld Sigurðardóttir stepped down from the role of director earlier this spring, having held the position since 2013.
