Mother seeks justice for son killed by concrete truck in Hafnarfjörður

A mother is seeking answers and accountability following the tragic death of her eight-year-old son, Ibrahim Shah, who was fatally struck by a concrete truck in Hafnarfjörður nearly a year ago. The young football player had recently begun practicing with a local club and was returning home from training when the incident occurred.

Ibrahim, the youngest of five siblings from a Pakistani family, had moved from Reykjavik to Hafnarfjörður just months prior, excited about the proximity to school and sports facilities. His mother, Robina Uz-Zaman, often called Beena, felt their new neighborhood was safe, but sensed something ominous before the accident.

On the evening of Ibrahim’s accident, he had planned to ride his bike to football practice. When he failed to return at his usual time, Beena’s concern grew. After sending family members to search for him, she received the devastating news delivered by a priest and a police officer: her son had died instantly in the accident.
