Autumn migration of Canada geese commences in Finland with 50,000 arrivals

The autumn migration of Canada geese has begun, as reported by regional environmental centers on Wednesday. Approximately 50,000 Canada geese are estimated to have arrived in Finland, which is fewer than expected, according to the centers.

The largest count of geese this past week was recorded on Monday in Vuoniemi, Rääkkylä, where nearly 10,000 Canada geese arrived. Each autumn, Canada geese migrate south from regions like the Barents Sea through Finland. On average, this time of year, hundreds of thousands of Canada geese are typically observed in Eastern and Southeastern Finland.
