Helsinki Finnish Club denies women membership yet again

The Helsinki Finnish Club has decided not to accept women as members yet again, according to STT. An extraordinary members’ meeting was held on Tuesday to discuss the issue, prompted by a request from over one-tenth of the club’s membership.

To change the rules, a three-quarters majority is required. The Finnish Club currently has nearly 3,000 members. The last vote on this matter took place in December, where two-thirds of members were in favor of allowing women’s membership.

Founded in the 19th century, the Finnish Club is a cultural organization where men of various ages, committed to the ideals of Finnish identity, come together.
