A recent survey conducted by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Education indicates that the public pension system would have cost between 40 to 50 million Danish kroner more last year if earnings were not considered in the income basis for pensioners.
However, it is important to note that this figure does not include those who have opted for deferred pensions. If work income were not deducted from the pension calculations, there would be little rationale for choosing a deferred pension option.
Currently, there are 500 individuals with deferred pensions. If they had been eligible for the full public pension, the expenditures for the public pension scheme would have been 50 million kroner greater last year.
This information comes from Sirið Stenberg, the Minister of Social Affairs, who responded to inquiries from Member of Parliament Hans Jacob Thomsen regarding the deduction process in the public pension system.
