Finland’s population increases by 21,200 in 2023, driven by net migration

Finland’s population has increased by nearly 21,200 people in 2023, according to Statistics Finland. As of the end of August, the population stood at just over 5,625,000. Between January and August, nearly 29,300 children were born. This number is more than 8,700 fewer than the number of deaths during the same period. However, the overall population growth was sustained by a net migration gain from abroad.
