Housing project resumes in Amager Fælled, Denmark; topping-off ceremony held for first phase

Monday 23rd September 2024 on 21:29 in Denmark

In July 2021, a housing project in Amager Fælled was halted due to concerns that it could threaten the local population of crested newts. However, later objections were dismissed, allowing construction to resume. In 2022, developers paused the project once again, but in 2023, they were able to continue the building process.

Today, a ceremonial topping-off event was held for the first phase of the project, which includes 71 housing units. These units are expected to be completed by April. In total, the development will feature 2,000 housing units, all scheduled for completion within the next eight years.
