The Union Party has proposed a special tax of seven percent on Faroese banks and insurance companies, which is expected to generate 50 million Danish kroner. This revenue will cover the increased child benefit expenses for families.
The aim of this proposal is to support those who are entering the housing market for the first time. Bárður á Steig Nielsen, the chairman of the Union Party, believes that banks will endorse this initiative as it ultimately benefits them as well.
This measure reflects a broader strategy to alleviate financial pressures on families and assist new homeowners, emphasizing the importance of creating supportive economic environments for all citizens.
