A serious traffic accident occurred in Mustasaari on Saturday afternoon around 5 PM, injuring two cyclists. A 17-year-old driver, who was operating a car with a special permit, collided with the cyclists at the intersection of Jungsundintie and Adamasvägen. Both cyclists sustained severe injuries, and one of them is currently in intensive care.

The other injured cyclist also requires surgical treatment, but their condition is stable, according to Kati-Susanna Lukkarinen, the on-duty investigator from the Ostrobothnia police, in an interview with Yle.

Initial reports suggest the driver may have lost control of the vehicle on a slippery gravel road. Additionally, there were three passengers in the car at the time of the accident.

The police have not yet interviewed the injured cyclists, and Lukkarinen indicated that the driver is currently suspected of endangering traffic safety and causing bodily harm. “The charges may change as the investigation progresses,” she added.
