Orwa Kadoura has announced his resignation amidst criticism for sharing antisemitic messages and a video celebrating the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. He stated, “It has been a difficult and heavy decision, but I have concluded that it is the right choice for me, as my struggle for peace and a free Palestine is non-negotiable. I resign with pride and strength.”
Previously, the leadership of the Left Party had indicated that Kadoura could remain in his position since he had deleted the controversial posts and expressed remorse. However, the party’s secretary, Aron Etzler, has now emphasized that the Left Party takes “unacceptable rhetoric very seriously, even in cases where it has been shared due to unawareness.”
Etzler added that discussions had been ongoing with Kadoura for some time. “He has now decided to step down from his roles. I have understanding and respect for his decision.”
