Kombispel faces backlash over customer complaints and subcontractor issues in Sweden

Tina Wahlroth notes that Kombispel has consistently faced serious customer complaints and has changed subcontractors multiple times. Other clients, including various telecommunications and energy companies that have used the same subcontractor, Effective Communications, have not encountered any issues. “Effective Communications has many significant clients who have never had problems with them. So we must ask: what is Kombispel doing that leads to continual issues with their subcontractors?” she said.

Wahlroth emphasizes that the responsibility lies with Kombispel and cannot be shifted to a subcontractor. “It doesn’t matter if you use a supplier or do it yourself,” she stated.

Kontakta, a non-profit organization representing companies in customer service and telemarketing in Sweden, has not excluded Effective Communications from its membership due to its policy of only allowing Swedish companies. The organization expresses concerns that Kombispel’s sales methods could tarnish the entire industry.

In the wake of the S-lottery scandal, Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar has suggested banning telemarketing altogether. However, Wahlroth insists that the problem is not the medium itself but the conduct of the operators who may act deceitfully or inaccurately.

The board of Kombispel has been urged to resign following revelations by a major newspaper about their aggressive selling of S-lotteries, which has resulted in numerous complaints to the Swedish Consumer Agency. Consequently, the CEO has been dismissed.
