Apple miracle unfolds in Österlen as Kivik manager shares secrets of fruitful cultivation

For Jan Jensen, who works as a cultivation manager at an apple press in Kivik, apples represent more than just fruit. He describes them as a “miracle” that defies the harsh winter cold every year. “When I walk through the orchards in winter, I think nothing will come of it. But then spring arrives, and the leaves start to emerge, and I think, ‘Wow, the miracle happened again,’” Jensen shared while meeting in author Björn Ranelid’s apple grove in Österlen.

So how can one make the most of the abundant fruit that the trees produce? According to Jensen, there are three important factors to consider: timing, caution, and storage.
