Two individuals die in house fire in Mieluskylä, Haapavesi

A two-story detached house caught fire in Mieluskylä, Haapavesi, on Thursday morning. According to police in Oulu, two individuals have died as a result of the blaze. The authorities are conducting a death investigation and continuing to examine the cause of the fire. No further details are being released at this time.

Emergency services arrived at the scene around 6:30 AM to find the 150-square-meter house engulfed in flames. Firefighters are currently engaged in firefighting operations at the site. Nine units were dispatched to combat the fire, with two units remaining on-site to assist with extinguishing efforts.

Additionally, a demolition machine has been requested to aid in the firefighting and cleanup operations. The situation is expected to last several more hours, as the structure is an older building insulated with cellulose, making it particularly challenging to extinguish.
