The issue with the Olkiluoto 2 generator has been identified, according to Teollisuuden Voima. The facility is expected to resume production after repair works by the end of September. The electricity production at the unit was halted on Monday due to increased moisture detected in the generator at the turbine facility. The cause was found to be a fault in the rotor of the water-cooled generator.
Olkiluoto’s power plants play a significant role in Finland’s electricity generation. The current production interruption is projected to impact electricity prices in Finland. For instance, today, Thursday, electricity prices are set to jump to nearly 50 cents at eight o’clock in the evening.
