Change negotiations initiated in August for all employees at Metsä Fibres’ sawmills in Lappeenranta and Vilppula have concluded. The Lappeenranta facility employs approximately 70 workers, while the Vilppula mill has around 100 employees.
Due to the challenging market conditions, both sawmills will implement layoffs affecting production staff starting from September 2024 and continuing until the end of January 2025. Details regarding the specific scope, number of layoffs, and timelines will be further clarified by the end of 2024.
Additional updates will follow.
