Farmhouse in Hämeenkyrö attracts €155,970 bid in auction
An old farmhouse in Hämeenkyrö, located in the Pirkanmaa region of Finland, has attracted a bid of €155,970 in an auction. The highest bid was placed on Saturday evening via Huutokaupat.com. Harri Jääskeläinen, the municipal property services manager, reported that the competition for the property ultimately came down to two bidders. “My estimate was that the price would fall between €120,000 and €150,000. I believe the decision-makers are now satisfied,” Jääskeläinen commented.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the highest bid stood at around €40,000, with Jääskeläinen considering those initial bids as mere warm-up offers. He has not disclosed whether the highest bidder is a local resident or someone from outside the area. The Hämeenkyrö municipal council is expected to approve the sale in its meeting on September 9, with the transaction likely to be completed in October.
The municipality received a total of 154 bids from around 20 participants in an auction lasting approximately three months. The sale will occur at market value with no conditions imposed on the buyer, and no minimum price was set. However, the municipality hopes the buyer will be an active operator, akin to a “Pelle Peloton,” and has expressed a preference against the establishment of businesses such as auto repair shops or battery storage.
The historical property, which includes buildings that have hosted a summer theater, restaurant and café services, as well as rental celebration and sauna facilities, is being sold with its fixtures and in need of renovation due to its age and condition. The auction has garnered national attention, with thousands viewing the sales listing.
